SRGMP c2009 23rd August 2008 Episode 17 Update

The 2 new mahaguru’s for this episode were Ghulam Ali & Suresh Wadekar.
The theme for this week’s episodes was Pop songs.

The first gharana to perform was Shankarji’s LAKSHYA GHARANA:

*Pratibha sang Rangeela Maaro Dholna – Shuba Mugdal. All the mentors appreciated her performance.
*Tarun sang Piya Re. He was nervous while singing the mukhda of the song but then he performed really well.

The second gharana to perform was Himeshji’s ROCK GHARANA:
*Jenice sang Made in India by Alisha Chinoi. Pritamji and Himeshji really appreciated her performance. Shankarji still felt that she needs to work on her pitching.
*Farheed sang Ishq by Sukhbir. Shankarji felt he needs to work on his low notes and sing more openly.
Aditya mentioned to the audience that he noticed that the mentors weren’t talking amongst themselves unlike previous episodes. Shankarji said that they have stopped doing this so that it will avoid any future confrontations and arguments as they are all friends and they want to stay that way.

DHOOM GHARANA was next to perform:

*Shujat sang Doorie by Atif Aslam. Shankarji felt that he sang better than the original singer.
*Yashita sang Pari Hoon Mein by Suneeta Rao. Aadeshji promised her that she would sing for him in one of his next movies.
*Debojit sang Deewana by Sonu Nigaam. He received an overwhelming response which led to a once more from the audience and Pritamji went on stage to sing with him. Himeshji asked Debojit for his autograph as he said that he is his fan.

JAI HO GHARANA was next to perform:
*Faraz sang Tere Bin Sanu Soniya by Rabbi Shergill. His pitching was incorrect at the beginning which made him restart the song.
*Anupama sang Piya Basanti Re by Ustad Sultan Khan and Chitra. Her performance was appreciated by all.
*Shashi sang a Daler Mehndi song, and he too asked to finish the ending of the song again as the clapping from the audience confused him and interrupted his rhythm and tempo. Everyone appreciated his performance and felt that he is a versatile singer.

RESULTS:
Yashita won the Sangeet Chakra.
Debo won a mobile phone.
BOYS RESULTS:
Debo = IN
Tushar, Tarun = ELIMINATED
GIRLS RESULTS:
Anupama, Pooja and Yashita = IN
Jenice = ELIMINATED
