SRGMP c2009 29th August 2008 Episode 17 Update
Today’s episode featured the actor Farhan Akhtar and colleagues, from the movie Rock On. They performed the title track. The theme for today’s episode was Rock Songs.
The first gharana to perform was Pritamji’s:
DHOOM GHARANA
*Shujat sang Zara si Dil Mein de Jaga tu from Jannat. All appreciated his performance. Ghulam Ali said that his sur was very strong throughout the song and he proved that a classical singer can sing rock songs as well.
*Yashita sang Meter Down from Taxi 9211. Everyone warned her not to be over confident in her singing and Aadeshji promised her a song in one of his forthcoming movies.
*Debojit sang Saawariya title track. All the mentors came on stage as they all loved his performance.
JAI HO GHARANA was next to perform:
*Shashi sang Dil se Re. All appreciated his versatility and said that he is a well learned singer. Farhan Akhtar’s colleague Luke from the Rock On team complimented Shashi by saying that he felt that ARRahman was singing the song!
*Anupama sang Aisa Jadoo from Khakee. All the mentors felt that even though she was not comfortable singing the song, it was a good attempt! Anupama’s mother in law, son and husband were welcomed on stage.
*Faraz sang Aankon ke Sagar by Shafqat Amanat Ali. Shankarji said that it was one of his best performances. Himeshji however felt that it was not as good as his Bhulla ki Jaana performance, and he requested Faraz to sing a few lines of the song.
ROCK GHARANA was next on stage:
*Farheed sang Judaa Hoke Bhi from Kalyug. All the mentors especially Shankarji appreciated his performance, but due to personal problems Farheed broke down and said that he had not been able to dedicate enough time for this performance.
LAKSHYA GHARANA were next to perform:
*Pratibha sang Ab ke Sawan by Shubha Mugdal. All the mentors loved her performance and Shankarji gave her a golden key!
RESULTS:
*Sangeet Chakra went to Debojit

*Anupama, Yashita and Pratibha are IN
BOYS RESULTS:
*Farheed & Shashi are OUT
*Faraz & Shujat are IN
