Sara Raza Khan’s woeful woes continue…

ey69sv0ozlce664cdmx5.jpgThis week SaReGaMaPa will be getting its top 14 contestants to enter into the final Agnipariksha round. The show which has already been on news for its melodrama will see more of that sort in the coming week. Pakistan ki Beti, Sara Raza Khan who has been in controversy many a time and more recently for sharing of lyrics with Deepali in the duet, will again be seen in a controversy as according to her she is not getting the homely treatment when compare to other contestants on the show.

Although Sara smiles radiantly at you every time but there is a gloom looming large behind that radiant smile. She is the only Pakistani girl to have crossed the border to participate in the reality show and showcase her talent inspite of opposition from her community and is also facing lot of objection back at home. And this week she narrated a sordid tale of how she is being treated as an outcast here amongst her peers in Challenge 2009. She feels that she is being sidelined amidst her Indian and overseas counterparts. She and her mother openly let everyone present on the show know that since the people of her own community and own country do not approve of this, she would rather not be a part of this show, which left everyone flabbergasted on the sets.

The team of Golmaal Returns was present on the sets and this did some laughter therapy to the contestants present. The awesome foursome Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and the director Rohit Shetty not only had a blast on the sets but also released the film music. Ajay got a little nostalgic and went back to his old association with the channel when he and his family judged “Rock N Roll Family”. The participants were over the moon to have such big stars with them and that brought an extra zing to their performances.

Along with laughter and sorrow also comes the tension of who will get into the show via wild card. This week’s episode will also feature the new wild card entrants but also Somen Nandi, and Vaishali who got direct entry into Agnipariksha.

‘We mentors will not talk to each other on sets’ - Shankar Mahdevan

During the Rakhi special episode last week, there was a huge rift witnessed between the mentors of Zee TV’s reality show SaReGaMaPa regarding the elimination of contestants from the show. The four mentors were divided on whom to bring back via Sanjivani bhooti. Himesh and Aadesh were unable to decide on whom to eliminate and kept their mouth zipped while Shankar and Pritam questioned them for changing the format according to their will and wish. This heated argument, led to an ugly spat between the four and as a foregone conclusion they just left the shoot.

This week the mentors have taken a conscious decision of not talking to each other. They realized that their arguments on the sets don’t go down well with the audience and hence this decision.

Shankar Mahadevan, the mentor of Lakshya Gharana to throw some light on this issue. “We all four mentors have a good bonding with each other. Unlike other reality shows where the judges fight, we gel very well. But now that we have disagreements, we have decided not to talk with each and will not get into arguments. Whatever we interact on the show will directly be with the contestants and via the host. This will help us maintain decorum in the sets and this will also not affect our personality in front of the audience. None of us wish to spread a negative vibe which will affect the relationship with the audience as well as the contestants and thus, we have taken this decision”.

When quizzed if this incident has affected their personal relationship, he declined the statement saying, “We all are friends and you can see all this in the coming week. It will be very interesting for the audience seeing the way we comment. It is rather very cute and a sweet interaction between us. Audience will definitely enjoy this change”.

After the major tiff between the mentors last week, maybe this particular decision was much needed.

Though everything seems calm and quiet, the show insiders are just waiting for the volcano to erupt any moment now. So, is this a silence before a big storm? Only time can answer to this!!

Independence Day special

takazr5ub7ozdvgq1c5z.jpgOn the eve of Independence Day this year, Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa makes an effort to relive the era of Undivided India. An era where the whole nation, forgetting all the discripancies stood together for a common cause – Set India Free against the British Rule.In an effort to curb the disparities between the two nations, both the Indian as well as Pakistani contestants paid tribute to this concept of Undivided India.

As a mark of respect on such an occasion Saregamapa took the pleasure of inviting Indian Armed Forces to be a part of this show.

The most jubilant amongst all were the NRI participants. For them it was a different high to be celebrating Independence Day in this fashion. These kids who have been born and brought up abroad have never known the true essence of Independence. For them this episode was almost like celebrating a festival. The zeal, vigour and enthusiasm was there to be seen.

Some wonderful performances were put up by the participants. “Pakistan Ki Beti”, Sara Raza Khan of Lahore, sang “Aisa desh hai mera” from the movie Veer Zara, which depicted the concept of Undivided India beautifully. Mitika from Chandigarh performed on the number “Bharat humko Jaan se pyaara hai” and Shujat from Pakistan performed “Tere bina dil na lage”. Anupama performed “ Vaande Mataram” (lataji’s version) and Sayon from Kolkata performed on “ Vaande Mataram “ (A.R Rahman’s version). Fareed from Rajasthan performs Desh mere.

Though Himesh Reshammiya was missing from the show, his void was filled by none other than Shankar Mahadevan. His superb mimicry of Himesh put everybody into peals of laughter.

Participants are balancing between study and singing

Mitika Kanwar and Sunvinder Singh, budding singers from Chandigarh and Ludhiana respectively, have tasted success at a young age through their participation in ZEE TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009. But both say they are well aware of the struggle they may have to face to take up singing as a career.

wq52l6mcc0x3quour01n.jpg“I will complete my studies and become a psychologist. I will also continue to look for an opportunity take up playback singing as a career,” said Mitika, a second-year Psychology student of the Government College for Girls-11, Chandigarh.

“Many talented singers are struggling to find work these days. Luck plays an important part, apart from the talent,” added Mitika, who was presented a ‘golden key’ by Asha Bhonsle. This secured her a seat in the next round. Mitika is part of the Dhoom gharana of music director Pritam. She idolises her father Kanwar Iqbal, a Punjabi music composer, who has been training her since childhood.

ku156xqm4nc9gw59rz23.jpgSunvinder, a resident of Haibowal area and a Class XII student, also said that he would prefer to complete his studies while trying to take up singing as a career. “You need something to fall back upon during the struggle time, and studies provide that sense of security. I will pursue MBA and if I am lucky, I will surely get a break in films,” said Sunvinder, who is in Himesh Reshammiya’s Rock gharana.

Living up to their words, the two have in fact struck a perfect balance between study and singing. Mitika scored 80 per cent in her first-year of graduation. They will be back in Mumbai on August 3 for the next round.

Nasal Twang…then hair transplant…then controversies galore and now an emotional outburst, that’s our very own Music director/singer/actor Himesh Bhai for you.

Usually known for his blunt remarks and scraps with fellow judges, the mentor, Himesh couldn’t hold his emotions on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 recently.

Asha lashes out at Himesh again

hw1x1sr7s4v45vr21vh.jpgWhen music composer, singer and actor Himesh Reshammiya said RD Burman’s voice was nasal, she flew into a rage and said that Reshammiya “deserved a tight slap.” Regarding this comment, Himesh commented on Asha at the very first episode of Saregamapa Challenge’09, “Bas thappad mat mariyega”. People thought it was all over when she sang for Reshammiya’s film Aap Kaa Surroor. And says also, “I am over it now. I just said what I felt then. He is a good boy and even met me a few times and apologised to me. He is a good singer and successful, too. He has potential, and the will power. He will succeed,”

But but but, problem between Himesh and Asha still on. Recently, while shooting for the latest season of the reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, the two had another showdown. Himesh is a magical mentor of the show. It started when Himesh commented on Sunvinder who sang an old Rafi number. Himesh wanted the singer to sing a track from new singers instead of legends like Kishore Kumar, Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, etc.

Asha, who was invited as a special judge for the episode, did not like the comment. In retaliation, she said the contestants should indeed only imitate the new ones. The contestant was holding the mike sideways, just like the way Himesh does. Asha took a dig at that too and asked the contestant to show his face to the audience and not hide like that.

Though in another episode Asha denied evrything. She says, “Log aise hi bolte rahete hai ki Himesh ka aur mera jhagra hai. Aisa to kuch apna hai nahi, phir bhi log bolte rahete hai. Mujhe puchte hai ke kya baat hai. Maine kaha bhai chhodo, mere pote jitne hai woh, main kya unse ladai karoongi. Main sirf use daantti hoon kabhi kabhi aur pyar karti hoon.”

Himesh, he was his humble self, admitting that, “Mujhe aur aap daant sakti hai, kiunki apki har daant mein mera ashirvad hai. Apne daanta aur mera aur barqat ho gayi, aur daantiye, aur barqat hogi…Thank you..Love you”.
