Himeshji’s Dad to come on this week’s show!!

You might have heard about rich papas launching their sons but it’s not often that you find a successful son re-launching his dad, who is old enough to retire in peace.

That’s what Himesh Reshammiya, the indomitable spirit of the Entertainment Industry as well as Zee TV’s Sa re ga ma pa did. The man who has been the talk of the town for his Chinese hair cut recently proclaimed his idea of re-launching his father on the show, which was dedicated to him.

SRGMP Episode 8 27th July 2008

The show opened with Sayan and Mitika singing “O Haseena Zulfonwali” with Aditya.

It was Ashaji’s last episode of the series.

Dhoom Gharana

*Shujat sang “Mere Saanson Mein Basa Hai” from Aur Pyar Ho Gaya. Shankar felt his last performance was much better. All the mentors agreed on this. Ashaji liked his performance a lot.

Jai Ho Gharana

*Anupama sang “Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha” title track. Himeshji said “you have a very supportive sasuma, anupama” and he made everyone laugh because of the rhyme! He appreciated her performance a lot. Aadeshji said it was a mindblowing performance of hers.

Participants are balancing between study and singing

Mitika Kanwar and Sunvinder Singh, budding singers from Chandigarh and Ludhiana respectively, have tasted success at a young age through their participation in ZEE TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009. But both say they are well aware of the struggle they may have to face to take up singing as a career.

wq52l6mcc0x3quour01n.jpg“I will complete my studies and become a psychologist. I will also continue to look for an opportunity take up playback singing as a career,” said Mitika, a second-year Psychology student of the Government College for Girls-11, Chandigarh.

“Many talented singers are struggling to find work these days. Luck plays an important part, apart from the talent,” added Mitika, who was presented a ‘golden key’ by Asha Bhonsle. This secured her a seat in the next round. Mitika is part of the Dhoom gharana of music director Pritam. She idolises her father Kanwar Iqbal, a Punjabi music composer, who has been training her since childhood.

ku156xqm4nc9gw59rz23.jpgSunvinder, a resident of Haibowal area and a Class XII student, also said that he would prefer to complete his studies while trying to take up singing as a career. “You need something to fall back upon during the struggle time, and studies provide that sense of security. I will pursue MBA and if I am lucky, I will surely get a break in films,” said Sunvinder, who is in Himesh Reshammiya’s Rock gharana.

Living up to their words, the two have in fact struck a perfect balance between study and singing. Mitika scored 80 per cent in her first-year of graduation. They will be back in Mumbai on August 3 for the next round.

SRGMP c2009 Episode 7 26th July 2008 update

All the contestants performed together on the song “De Taali” with Aditya Narayan.

Himesh Reshammiya’s Gharana was the first to perform this time.

Jai Matadi Let’s Rock: Rock the World:

*Farheed sang Zindagi Mein Kabhi Koi Aaye Naa Rabba” from the film “Musafir”. Shanakrji felt that he had improved a lot since his last performance which was (Maula mere Maula from the film Anwar). Pritamji and Aadeshji appreciated it a lot. Ashaji also felt it was a very good performance.

Usually known for his blunt remarks and scraps with fellow judges, the mentor, Himesh couldn’t hold his emotions on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 recently.

SRGMP c2009 Episode 6 19th July 2008 Update

Aditya stood next to Zaheer and Naina as they had secured their futures for the next 2 weeks by receiving the Golden Key in yesterday’s episode.

Aditya then introduced all the mentors and Mahaguru Ashaji. The first Gharana to go on stage was:


Har Har Mahadev – Shankarji’s Lakshya Gharana

Tarun sang “Saawan Mein Lag gayi Aag” from Woodstock Villa. All the mentors appreciated his performance. Shankarji felt he could have still performed better.

Jai Ho Mangalmay ho – Aadeshji’s Jai Ho Gharana

Sashi sang “More Saiyaan”. All the mentors appreciated his performance and appreciated the fact the he was classically trained. Himeshji liked it a lot as he sang well even though he had a bad throat. Ashaji made Sashi sing a non classical song and he chose “Jaan Ve” from “Haal – E – Dil” and he sang a few lines of it for Ashaji, she appreciated his performance.

All the contestants that were going to perform in the episode sang “Ae Sala” from Rang De Basanti with Aditya.

Then the mentors and Mahaguru were introduced.

Aadesh Srivastava’s “Jai Ho Mangalmay Ho” Gharana

Aadeshji’s Gharana went first and when Asha announced Jai Ho, Aadesh said “Jab Jai Ho bolta hai toh sab ka mangal may Hota hai” and everyone laughed.

SRGMP c2009 Episode 4 update 12th July

The show opened with all the winning contestants from the previous episode joining Aditya in sing “Kabhi Kabhi Aditi” from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa.

The magical mentors were then introduced on stage and Mallika Sherawat was the special guest for the show as she was promoting her film “Ugly aur Pagli”.

Himeshji’s Rock Gharana were the first to perform again as they did not get through the last episode.

*Manisha sang “Zid Naa Karo”

*Sunvinder sang “O Saathi Re” from Omkara
